If you’ve been following my fertility journey on Instagram then you know I was gifted the Ava bracelet in December to increase our chances of conceiving. I wanted to use the Ava bracelet because they are backed by Swiss science to give you a closer look into what is going on inside your body and your fluctuating hormones. They are able to determine your personal 5 most fertile days by calculating your body temp, heart rate, HRV and more. The Ava bracelet is tracking your individual cycle, not the typical 28 day cycle with ovulation on day 14. Not every woman ovulates on day 14, some ovulate early, and some way later. When you are trying to get pregnant the ovulation day is very important.
Now let’s get right to what you want to know, if it worked for me, well yes and no. No, I’m not pregnant. But, Yes it gave me and my doctor a clear look of how abnormal my cycle was and that I was possibly not ovulating every month, We confirmed this with lab tests. Ava is not meant to diagnosis or treat any condition, and it used for cycles that fall between 24-35 days. But it gave us an inside view of how my body may not be functioning normally. I had a gut feeling my hormones were off, by seeing my stats in Ava I was able to show those to my doctor and we decided to investigate further. Since I have a history of endometriosis and having cysts burst I did not have to wait the typical year of trying before we went straight into testing. We are currently still trying to figure out what is going on with my hormones so I will share in a different post. Below are some of my personal stats.
What I loved about the Ava bracelet was I no longer was peeing on sticks every morning and afternoon to see if I was ovulating. Yes some people need to test multiple times of the day because their LH surge may not be as long as others. But the difference between Ava and the LH strips is the LH strips can indicate you have a 12-24 hour window of being fertile, while Ava gives you a 5 day window. If you didn’t know sperm can live inside a woman for 5 days waiting for the egg to be released. This makes trying to conceive a lot easier and a bigger window. I also loved that through the Ava bracelet that I wear each night, it gives me stats on how my sleep was and if my body is stressed. I loved getting to know more about my body every morning that I woke up and synced to the app. I love learning about hormones and how the body works so for me this app gives me all the feels. I love that all of this is in real time and I can see patterns in my body as well as how easy it is for me to share all my data with my doctor.
I may not be pregnant with Ava yet but I do have a strong feeling once we get my hormones under control and ovulating monthly then I will get pregnant. I recommend the Ava bracelet to every woman, even if they are not currently trying to conceive, the Ava tracking gives you a better indication to what your cycle is like, and help you prepare and take care of your body. I’m a big advocator of knowing what is normal for your own body because every body is an individual and we don’t follow textbook rules.
All opinions and experiences are my own. If you would like to purchase an Ava bracelet you can go to their website avawomen.com and with code: AVAMERBABE you can get $20 off your first order.
