Unless you’ve been living under a rock, I am quite certain that you have heard that it is officially fall, despite that temps are still screaming summer. Here for the PUMPKIN SPICE EVERYTHING!! Its officially October, so its happening. And I am HERE FOR IT
I personally am 100% on the pumpkin spice everything train, to be honest I’ve been adding pumpkin spice into my coffee all year long. Yup I’m that #basicbitch and I own it. I am a major cold brew girl during the summer. I just can’t do hot coffee when its hot out, no matter how cold my AC is bumping. When Starbucks came out with the Pumpkin Spice Cold foam cold brew, despite the 30g of sugar in the grande I just had to try it. And OH MY GOODNESS was it delicious. I did it without vanilla syrup and half the pumpkin and it was still tasty.
I loved it so much, but honestly the price tag, and the ingredients made me want to recreate it at home. So I went home and bought a cold frother. I have a simple frother one with a stand that we use to mix our collagen or regular creamer, but I felt I needed a professional one. So real quick, both work very well, but if you want thick thick foam the professional one does a better job, also it can chill the cream, warm it, or even heat it which will be great in the winter. Hot peppermint cocoa anyone?
I’ve been trying all kinds of milks to see which one does the best job at creating that thick cream that I fell in love with. So far the two that I love the most are raw cream (I buy a local brand from sprouts) or Coconut Heavy cream. These are great options if you are Keto, or are careful about additives since you can control everything that is in them. Also if you don’t like pumpkin these are great on their own. I personally like to add vanilla extract and a dash of Monk Fruit to sweeten.
To mix up the Heavy coconut cream base, I don’t listen to the instructions on the back. I simply just pour everything into a mason jar and use my hand held frother to mix everything together. I add a dash of monk fruit and vanilla for flavor. I think doing it this way makes it thick and creamy, vs the instructions make it more like whipped cream. The best part of this recipe is you do you girl!
To me the other nut milks just didn’t quite froth and get thick enough. If you don’t have access to raw cream organic whipping cream will do just fine. When I do dairy I try to do raw as it contains the enzymes to help our stomachs break it down properly. If not then I will do organic dairy because I don’t need any additional hormones or junk in my body. Again this is my personal preference. I loved these two bases the most because the come unflavored with limited ingredients so I was able to sweeten and add everything to my taste.
I did use an Oat Milk creamer which frothed but didn’t get thick. Same for Oatly milk. I will see how Nut Pods do and let you know. Also my favorite So delicious Coconut vanilla creamer worked well, but when I added in the pumpkin syrup it was just too sweet. I have yet to try the original flavor or the Califia Better Half creamers. I’ll keep you posted when I try those.
So far my fav Copycat Starbucks Pumpkin Cream Cold brew is this
1 Cup Nitro Cold Brew- I buy mine from our local cafe, nitro is smoother than regular cold brew in my opinion.
I either do my heavy coconut cream base, or raw cream I add to the minimum line in my cold frother and add a good splash of pumpkin syrup, I prefer the Monin Pumpkin Spice but if you prefer a sugar free version I do like the Skinny Pumpkin Spice, or if you are watching your calories or if you are keto. I turn on the frother and let the magic happen. I’ll pour the frothed cream on top of my cold brew and add a few shakes of Pumpkin Spice Seasoning and enjoy. If you prefer a sweeter cold brew you can also add vanilla syrup, or monk fruit into your actual Cold Brew to sweeten it a bit.
I’m not the best with exact measurements but I’m a big believer in less i more, and everybody’s taste buds are so different so listen to your taste buds.
I’ve done the same cream routine with hot coffee and it is still devine! I’m so glad I made the splurge. It’s been the easiest to use and to clean.
Let me know if you try this recipe, or if you found another cream option!
Tag #LOLPSCB if you use this recipe!
Here are all the items I purchased except for refrigerated options.
