Yes, I just told you to go shave your face. I mean it! I always wanted to get rid of the peach fuzz on my face but I was so scared to do it because what if it grew back thicker or even worse darker. After my favorite IG Gal @LivingWithLandyn did a live video last year of her shaving her face and admitting that she has been doing it for a year I looked more into it.Of course the moment I saw her video all the ads I started getting were on dermaplaning. So whats the difference between shaving your face and dermaplaning. Dermaplaning is done by a licensed esthetician with a surgical grade blade. The razor I use are not surgical grade and I can buy them off amazon. I have never done dermaplaning but I imagine they can get a lot closer shave than I am doing at home. I use small moments on a clean face that has just been washed and dried with a towel. I use small swipes and I’m extremely careful around my eyebrows, and hair line. Also be very careful around blemishes and your nose. Take it nice and slow, practice makes perfect, just like how it was learning to shave your legs and around your knees.
So why do I shave my face, first to get rid of the peach fuzz honestly it just bothers me and my makeup sits on it weird. I also do it because it helps exfoliate dead skin, which we all know that means brighter more radiant skin. It is also suggested that by shaving you can help reduce pore size, reduce wrinkles (I’m all for this), and allows our beauty regiments work deeper into our skin. These have no been studied or evaluated by professionals to my knowledge. But I can speak from experience. My skin is so soft, My breakouts happen less, and my makeup application has been a game changer. I’ve recently changed my beauty regiments so not sure if that is why my wrinkles are less noticeable or not.
I shave my face three times a week, at night, then apply a mask. I start with a clean face, and since i’m shlepping off all that dead skin and hair I want to further detox my skin so I do either a charcoal mask from beauty counter or a charcoal mask from Peter Thomas Roth I love how these masks clear out my pores without stripping my skin of natural oils. I then finish off with the rest of my normal skin routine before bed. I don’t like to shave my face and expose my pores to immediately putting on makeup. It’s a personal preference.
So no your hair won’t grow thicker or darker. But PLEASE BE CAREFUL! You can cut yourself or shave off your eyebrows! Yes you will have softer skin. yes your makeup and beauty products will lay differently and in my opinion life changing. No you don’t have to shave every day or multiple times a week. Do what works for you. I do masks three times a week because I have hormonal acne and I’m trying to prevent wrinkles since I want to avoid doing botox. Any ways I can keep things as natural as possible I’m all for.
I hope you enjoyed my experience with shaving my face. This post was not sponsored in any way or form. Below I will link my fav razors I get off Amazon and the two masks I mentioned above. Let me know if you have any questions.
